To the editor,
Almost 30% of Vermont towns have voted against GMOs at Town Meeting because of the risks that genetically engineered agriculture pose to our health, our environment and our family farming communities. Vermont farmers are now calling for a Time Out on GMOs until we can find a way to protect our environment, our health and our neighbors from the risks of genetically engineered crops and foods. Vermont’s legislators need to take these concerns with them to the state house and pass both bills S.162 for a moratorium on GMOs, and S.164 to hold the patent holding corporations liable for any further contamination of Vermont’s environment.
There is no room in Vermont for Monsanto, as Vermonters have said loud and clear. The policies of this state need to protect the health and integrity of Vermont farms and environment from any contamination and corporate consolidation. Take Monsanto out of the state house! No more GMOs in Vermont!

Sincerely,
