Rural Vermont Serving Up Farm Fresh Ice Cream

Rural Vermont Serving Up Farm Fresh Ice Cream:
Statewide Series of Events Kicking off in Northern Vermont!

Once again, Rural Vermont will be spending the summer touring the state and scooping homemade, farm fresh ice cream at every stop! Bring the whole family out to celebrate a successful year for Vermont agriculture over a bowl of ice cream made with the finest local ingredients.

The northern Vermont leg of the series begins on June 12 at Bandstand Park in Lyndonville, continues on June 17 at the Montgomery Recreation Center in Montgomery, and wraps up on June 26 at Cimarron Farm in St. Albans. All events are from 6:30 – 8 pm, rain or shine, open to the public, and free (donations kindly accepted).

Each social will feature farm fresh ice cream made from raw cream, and sweetened with local honey or maple syrup. The farmers providing these ingredients are folks who sell their products directly to consumers. Come on out to meet your local farmers -- get to know these people who are selling food in your backyard, and find out how you can support them and your local economy.

Come celebrate Rural Vermont’s latest legislative victories, which create new and expanded opportunities for our state’s family farmers! These include an increase in on-farm raw milk sales and a repeal on the raw milk advertising ban. Rural Vermont is connecting farmers selling milk with consumers seeking it, so if you’re interested in selling or buying raw milk, then don’t miss this opportunity to build your market or meet your farmer!

Each social will also include a guest speaker, children’s activities, and a raffle. If you can, plan on making a donation to Rural Vermont and joining our movement to strengthen local food systems and rural communities by advocating for agricultural policy that brings farmers and consumers closer.

As the summer progresses, Rural Vermont will become south-bound. The full schedule includes dates in Bethel, Stowe, Addison, Rutland, Putney, and Manchester. Don’t let summer slip by without making it to one of Rural Vermont’s Ice Cream Socials! For more information about any of the socials, call the Rural Vermont office at 802-223-7222 or visit www.ruralvermont.org.
