Last year Vermont passed an Environmental Justice bill creating an Environmental Justice (EJ) Advisory Council that will include representatives of the public. There are two pathways to show interest and indicate which seats you may be able to represent:

  • The application for seats appointed by the the Senate Committee on committees is using an online application: https://ltgov.vermont.gov/COC-Applications to solicit applicants for the 3 seats they will appoint:

    1. municipal government representative (Vermont League of Cities and Towns)

    2. Representative of a social justice org

    3. Representative of a mobile home park residents

  • The Speaker of the House will collect applications by email only (Speaker@leg.state.vt.us). The Speaker will appoint a total of 4 seats:

  1. Someone who resides in census block group designated as an Environmental Justice focus population (according to the census)

  2. Representative of an org working on food security issues

  3. Representative  of immigrant communities

  4. Representative from a statewide environmental org
