Please join us at Hillside Farm in the Northeast Kingdom for a chicken processing workshop on Sunday, July 20th from 9:00am - 12:00pm!

Hannah and Bill Pearce will teach participants the basics of raising, slaughtering, and processing pastured meat chickens. Participants get to take home one whole delicious meat bird! If there is time and interest, Bill & Hannah will lead us through instructions for the cutting/parting of whole birds.

Bill bought Hillside Farm in 1976. He's used his land for a variety of agricultural endeavors, but in 2009 he started focusing on pastured poultry, and a few years later in 2013, he purchased our cider press to start harvesting the trees he had planted almost 20 years prior.

Hannah joined the farm business in 2016. Growing up on this land inspired Hannah to join her father in farming, seeing that providing healthful, ethical food ties us to our community in an inspiring and meaningful way. Being able to provide good food to my friends, neighbors, and community members is a humbling privilege.

Ticket Price: $70 (includes a meat bird to take home!)

*Please dress accordingly for the weather, wear waterproof footwear, and please leave your dogs at home.

*Please arrive well-fed and bring plenty of water. Rural Vermont will provide light snacks.

Rural Vermont works alongside farm hosts, instructors, and other non-profits to bring a variety of workshops and peer-to-peer learning opportunities to our members and communities throughout Vermont.  Our ticket prices are built on the needs of the community, the needs of the farm hosts and instructors, and the structure of the workshop itself. We work hard to provide accessible, quality programming and to also pay fair compensation to our farm hosts, our instructors, and to cover the cost of managing and producing our workshops. As such, our ticket pricing varies from workshop to workshop and we strive to keep our pricing within a fair range. Thank you for participating and learning alongside us!
